Pitt to Join the ACC

|

“This is a great day for the University of Pittsburgh,” Chancellor Mark A. Nordenberg said on September 18, 2011, the day Pitt was introduced as a member of the Atlantic Coast Conference (ACC).

Pitt was voted in unanimously by the ACC Council of Presidents, increasing the conference’s membership to 14 schools. By moving to the ACC, Pitt aligns itself with some of the most prestigious academic and athletic institutions in the country.

Athletically, the ACC has long been a national leader in a broad range of intercollegiate sports. In 59 years of competition, the ACC has a glittering legacy that includes 122 national champions. In addition, NCAA individual titles have gone to ACC student-athletes 239 times.
